Wheel Cylinders

Wheel cylinders are part of the hydraulic braking system on your car, similar to the master cylinder. They are used on drum brakes to put pressure on the brake shoe. This then comes into contact with the brake drum and stops the vehicle. This system of braking is often seen on older cars. Our premium wheel cylinder manufacturer engineers them to withstand extreme temperatures and driving conditions. To achieve this, they’re made exclusively from high-grade steel or aluminium, with pistons and bores precision engineered to provide consistently smooth and safe braking. It is a wheel brake cylinder with two pistons which have a rubber seal and a shaft that connects the piston with a brake shoe. When you brake, the pistons are forced out pushing the shoes into contact with the drum. Common problems that can occur include leakage (for example from a split seal) and the pistons sticking. They must be rebuilt or replaced if they show signs of leaking.
